Therapy is an investment in the one thing you take everywhere: yourself. Here's exactly what it costs and how it works.
A phone call to talk about what you're carrying, answer your questions, and see if we're the right fit. No commitment.
EMDR, Brainspotting, or integrative trauma therapy — in person in New Bern or via telehealth in North Carolina.
Half-day, full-day, and multi-day intensive programs are offered through Iskra and priced by format. See Iskra pricing.
I don't bill insurance. This is a deliberate choice, and it's for your benefit as much as mine: it keeps your records private, your diagnosis out of insurance databases, and your treatment decisions between us — not dictated by what a claims reviewer will approve.
I provide superbills on request, which you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement depends on your specific plan and is not guaranteed — call the member services number on your card and ask about "out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits" to find out what yours covers.
As a self-pay client, you'll receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before we begin, as required by federal law.
Insurance requires a mental health diagnosis on file, limits how many sessions you can have, and can dictate what kind of therapy you receive. Private pay means your care is decided by exactly two people: you and me. It also keeps your mental health record out of databases that can affect things like life insurance applications.
A superbill is an itemized receipt I provide after your sessions. You submit it to your insurance company, and if you have out-of-network benefits, they reimburse you directly — often 50–80% of the session cost after your deductible. I'm happy to provide one monthly on request; reimbursement isn't guaranteed and depends on your plan.
Honestly: it depends on what we're working on, and anyone who gives you a number before knowing your story is guessing. What I can promise is that we'll set clear goals, check progress against them, and never do therapy for therapy's sake. If faster is what you need, ask me about intensive formats through Iskra.
We go over your history, what brought you in, and what you want to be different. We'll also start building grounding skills right away — with EMDR and Brainspotting, preparation is part of the work, not a delay before it. You don't have to share anything you're not ready to share.
Yes — secure video sessions for clients located anywhere in North Carolina. EMDR and Brainspotting both adapt well to telehealth. In-person sessions are at my office at 509 Broad Street, Suite C, New Bern.
I ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee, because that time was held for you. Emergencies happen — talk to me.
Weekly therapy works steadily over months; an intensive compresses that timeline into extended sessions — half-days, full days, or multi-day programs. Intensives are ideal for a specific target, a season of life that demands faster change, or schedules that can't do weekly. Intensives run through my practice Iskra, and many clients do both: intensive first, then weekly integration.
