Talk therapy has its place — but trauma doesn't live only in the story you can tell. It lives in the nervous system. My work uses brain-body approaches designed to help you actually process what happened, not just cope with it better. In person in New Bern, or online anywhere in North Carolina.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one of the most researched trauma treatments in the world. Using bilateral stimulation — eye movements, tapping, or sound — EMDR helps your brain reprocess painful memories the way it was built to, reducing their emotional charge so the past stops running the present.
We start by building grounding and resourcing skills, identify the memories and negative beliefs driving your symptoms, then process them at a pace your nervous system can handle. You stay in control the entire time.
Where you look affects how you feel. Brainspotting uses fixed eye positions — "brainspots" — to access trauma stored in the deeper, subcortical parts of the brain that talk therapy can't reach. It's a quieter, more open-ended process than EMDR: your brain leads, and we follow where it needs to go.
Many clients who find talking about their trauma difficult, or who feel "stuck" in traditional therapy, go deeper with Brainspotting than they thought possible.
Weekly or biweekly one-on-one therapy for adults, grounded in a trauma-informed, whole-person approach. Sessions may weave together EMDR, Brainspotting, somatic awareness, and plain honest conversation — whatever serves your goals. This is the home base: a consistent relationship where the deeper work happens over time.
Sessions are available in person at my New Bern office or via secure telehealth for clients located in North Carolina.
For focused, accelerated work, I offer extended EMDR and Brainspotting intensives — half-day, full-day, and multi-day formats — through my intensive practice, Iskra. Hours of processing instead of months of weekly sessions. Ideal for out-of-area clients, targeted goals, and people whose lives don't fit the weekly hour.
A free 15-minute call — no commitment, just a conversation about what you're carrying and which approach fits.
